こんにちは (Kon-nichi-wa) ! ☺️

Hello, everyone!

Thank you so much for coming along!

In 2024, Miki’s Kitchen was established by Miki, an inquisitive native Japanese woman living in Australia. We offer a Japanese Online Language Course and Cooking Class for people who want to know more about Japan.

We aim to make more people smile while delivering unique Japanese cultural experiences.

You might think, why did you want to deliver cultural experiences?

Let me explain from the starting point of the journey, which was almost 7 years ago…

My journey began in the village of Uganda (2018)

Miki, a Japanese native speaker, has a genuine passion for supporting children and people to achieve goals. Miki is surrounded by children in Uganda.

I was born in Nagoya, Japan and grew up in Kanagawa next to Tokyo 🇯🇵🗼.

Since childhood, I have always been interested in society outside of Japan.

I was curious about what kind of lifestyle, food and culture the opposite side of the world had.

Especially, I was keen to visit Africa. The media shows poverty and hunger, but I wanted to see the situation by myself to avoid accepting it without questioning.

Thus, I decided to go to the orphanage in Uganda 🇺🇬 as a volunteer when I was 18. One day, when I walked down the street, I met a 15-year-old boy selling a chapati. I was asking why you sell? He was answering, “I want to go to school, that’s why I need money”.

This experience was very shocking. Until then, I haven’t seen the person who works for pursuing studying. I was not interested in business at all, not money-conscious, and I was passionate about volunteering.

However, I realised the business can change someone who has a dream through giving them a paid job or a sustainable donation.

These experiences made me interested in how business works in this society.

Studied and Worked in Japan (2019-2024)

A native Japanese language instructor, graduated from Keio University in Japan. She started working in Japan.

After returning to Japan 🇯🇵, I started researching Social Marketing in the faculty of Policy Management at Keio University, which can deliver value to both business and society.

In 2021, I graduated and began working as a salesperson for a company in Japan because I wanted to learn about how the present company operates and contributes to its clients and society.

After about 3 years of experience, I was reconsidering. Would you like to continue working?

I discovered my true desire was to help individuals achieve their ambitions through my business. It led me to pursue a Master of Business (Marketing) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), which took me to Australia.

Worked as a Private Japanese Tutor in Brisbane, Australia (2024-)

A native Japanese instructor teaching Japanese Language to beginners to advanced levels from 6 years old to 50 + years old in Brisbane.

After moving to a beautiful city, Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺, I started working as a private Japanese Tutor.

I had no experience teaching Japanese to Australians, but I advertised myself and gained my 1st customer. Eventually, it was a huge success, as I attracted 21 customers aged 6 to 50 + with positive reviews in just one year.

I realised 3 things.

  1. I find it rewarding to teach and encourage people to achieve their goals, as well as create value from scratch.

  1. The demand for Japanese Culture outside of Japan is impressive. I met many people from different countries who learned Japanese on their own and enjoy Japanese Food and Culture: Anime, Ikebana, Onsen, Izakaya, Karaoke...

  2. Japanese Culture Lovers wish to learn more about a deep understanding of Japanese culture.

This is why I designed a Japanese Online Course and Cooking Class that deliver unique experiences, focusing on authenticity.
